Pakistani home decor

Pakistani handicrafts for the home.

Pakistan’s crafts come from specific towns and families: blue pottery and camel-skin lamps from Multan, carved wood from Chiniot, lacquered wood and rilli quilts from Hala in Sindh, onyx from the hills of Balochistan, and truck-art painting from the workshops of Karachi and Rawalpindi.

Each piece below has its own page explaining how it is made, how to recognise the handmade version and how to get it shipped safely.

Questions

People also ask

What handicrafts is Pakistan famous for?

Ajrak block printing, Multani blue pottery, truck art, onyx work, Chinioti wood carving, Hala lacquerware, rilli patchwork quilts and Balochi and Sindhi embroidery.

How can I tell handmade Pakistani crafts from copies?

Look for small irregularities: brush marks on truck art, uneven blocks on ajrak, hand-cut patches on a rilli. Printed and machine-made copies repeat exactly.

Is it safe to order Pakistani pottery from abroad?

Yes, if the seller packs each piece in bubble wrap inside a double box and gives you a tracking number. Ask before you pay.
