Who we are
Pakistanee (pakistanee.com) is operated by Bassam, Islamabad, Pakistan. We are the “controller” of the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy at privacy@pakistanee.com.
The short version
- You can read the whole site without giving us any personal data.
- We only collect what you choose to send: a contact message, a newsletter sign-up, or an email.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- We never sell or rent your personal data.
- We are not a shop. When you buy, you share your details with the seller, not with us.
What we collect and why
| What | Why, and our legal basis |
|---|---|
| Contact form or emails: your name, email address, message and topic. | To reply to you and keep a record of the conversation. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, and your consent, which you give when you send the form. |
| Newsletter: your email address, and the date you signed up. | To send you The Monthly Parcel. Legal basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link. |
| Maker applications: the information you send us about you and your business. | To consider listing you and to write about your work. Legal basis: steps you ask us to take, and our legitimate interest. |
| Server logs, kept by our hosting provider: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. | To keep the site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure site. |
We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information such as health data, payment details or government ID numbers.
Other sites, sellers and embedded content
When you follow a link to a seller or retailer (for example Etsy, Amazon or a maker’s shop), you leave our site. What they collect is governed by their own privacy policies. Affiliate programs may set cookies on their sites to record that you came from us.
Videos from YouTube only load when you press play. Once you do, YouTube (Google) may collect data under its own policy. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
Our fonts and images are served from our own server, so reading the site does not send your IP address to third parties.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not set any cookies. If we ever add analytics, we will ask for your consent first. Full details are in our cookie policy.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: up to 24 months after our last exchange, then deleted.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. We then keep your email address on a suppression list only so we never email you again.
- Maker information: while we list you, and up to 24 months after.
- Server logs: according to our hosting provider’s retention, usually no more than 90 days.
International transfers
We are based in Pakistan, and some of our service providers are in the United States, the European Union or elsewhere. When personal data from the EU or UK is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or on the transfer being necessary to reply to you at your request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- have it corrected;
- have it deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what happened before;
- not be discriminated against for using your rights (California);
- complain to a data protection authority. In the EU, this is the authority in your country. In the UK, it is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@pakistanee.com. We reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Children
Pakistanee is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We limit who can access personal data and use providers with appropriate security. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the relevant authorities about a breach where the law requires it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site and, for newsletter subscribers, by email.
