How we research
Each product page draws on published histories, maker interviews, museum and craft organisation sources, and first-hand knowledge from people in Pakistan. Where claims are uncertain or disputed, we say so, for example “some historians trace…”.
We describe how things are made in plain language and avoid exaggerated claims about age, rarity or health benefits.
How we choose sellers
Before linking to a seller we check that they ship internationally with tracking, show prices and shipping costs before payment, have a public track record such as platform reviews, and sell the genuine article. Sellers cannot pay to be listed.
We review links regularly. If a seller stops meeting these standards, we remove them. Please tell us about any problem you have with a seller.
Commissions and independence
Some links are affiliate links and may earn us a commission. They are always labelled “Commission link”. Links with no commission are labelled “Direct from maker”. Whether a link earns money never decides whether a product is listed or what we say about it. Affiliate links carry rel="sponsored" so search engines know they are commercial.
Food, health and safety
Where a product is eaten, drunk or put on skin, we include practical safety notes, such as allergens or ingredients that are unsafe in quantity. Nothing on this site is medical advice. We do not repeat health claims that are not supported by good evidence.
Illustrations and photographs
Our illustrations are drawn by us and show what an item is like, not an exact product. Photographs are credited to their authors with their licence on each page and on our photo credits page. We do not use sellers’ photos without permission.
Urdu, names and pronunciation
We give each item’s name in Urdu script with a simple pronunciation guide. Roman Urdu spellings vary, and our audio uses your device’s voices, so accents may differ from how people speak in Pakistan.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, email hello@pakistanee.com with the page and what is wrong. We aim to review corrections within seven days. When we change a fact, we update the page and note the change at the bottom of it.
