The story
What it is
Multani mitti means “earth from Multan”. It is fuller’s earth, a fine, absorbent clay that was once used to clean wool (to “full” it) and is still sold in every Pakistani bazaar as a face pack and hair cleanser.
Mixed into a paste with rose water, it is spread on the face, left to dry and washed off. People like the way it soaks up oil. We do not repeat medical claims; it is a cosmetic, not a cure.
Where it comes from
Multan’s clay has been traded for centuries, and recipes for multani mitti face packs are passed down in families across Pakistan.
